Zierikzee 1304

Zierikzee 1304 hosted by Jos Lauwers
Holland, Zierikzee 1304. Admiral Grimaldi looked at the slowly southwards lumbering fleet of the French-Dutch Alliance. The silhouettes of the chained Kogge’s looked larger than life, more so because all large woorden decks were taken by Men-At-Arms, Archers and Crossbow Men. The soldiers were not convinced about the idea to fight a land battle on connected ships. Most of them could not swim, and wearing metal amour made swimming academic anyway. The war machine crews cranked the ropes and readied their arrows and fire pots. No guns but large versions of the scorpio’s that had been used by armies for hundreds of years. The Admiral waved at the detachment of Galleys he had taken with him from the Mediterranean. Strangely enough they looked out of place with their sleek warship like lines between the lumbering behemoths of the converted merchant ships. Smaller ships and boats followed the fleet. He aimed his looking glass to the south. The Flemish and their Allies came slowly to the north in a similar fashion as his own fleet. To man it they had stripped the field army before the walls of Zierikzee of soldiers. If the coming battle was won, not only would Zierikzee have been relieved, but also the future of the province of Zeeland would be decided.

Men who would be kings

Men who would be kings, hosted by Jeroen Stroomer
After making an ill- advised boast in the gentlemens’ club, William Mortenson found himself in the midst of a thick jungle, looking for the African animals he promised to bring back alive.
Moments after spotting a majestic lion with bright mane, the serenety of the jungle was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. One of the expedition groups of askaris had engaged with a patrol of Zanzibari slavers. Torn between the thought of capturing the lion and the immediate threat posed by the Zanzibaris, William readied his rifle….
The Men Who Would Be Kings is a ruleset for recreating large skirmishes (or movies inspired by these battles) in the later half of the 19th century.

L’Assassino, hosted by Richard Evers

In the renaissance the Medici stood up to seize power. Condottieri roamed the Italian landscape. It was a time of feud and vendettas. What better time and place to set up a skirmish game?

The ruleset is easy and supports fast play. Every round your assassin may perform two actions: move, fight, climb, hide in a building or jump on a local guard… But the guards are on your tail too. The more attention you draw towards you with your actions, the more guards will close in…

The ‘hand of God’ might interfere in your plans too. Draw a card every round and find out what mischief or fortune falls upon you. Maybe you may move a guard away from you or closer to your opponent. You might find a good sword. Or fall of a roof…

En dat op een tafel die op Crisis 2018 de prijs heeft gewonnen voor de mooiste tafel en het ziet er dan ook spectaculair uit!
